Cultural Architecture’s Uncertain Future

January 13th, 2011 admin No comments

Architecture has been one of the creative industries hardest hit by the economic downturn. BOP offered its thoughts on building cultural icons on Tuesday – including the entreaty to think big – but there’s no doubt that it is becoming more difficult to do. Dundee’s ambitious proposed new V&A museum is off to an uncertain start, while in Spain’s Galicia province the City of Culture (a vast complex of six cultural buildings designed by Peter Eisenman for the city of Santiago de Compostela) is running late and hugely over budget.

Perhaps it’s not surprising that younger architects are more cautious, though this article from Rowan Moore in the Observer suggests that the best of them are nonetheless doing some striking work.

Album ART Initiative; A Creative Collaboration: Call to Artists

Hello To our Artistic Friends!!

We are launching a new CD in March! We are interested in collaborating with artists to create visual experience that reflects the heart of our album.

Although we are effectively looking for ONE piece we’re not fans of the word “contest”. So we hope you see this as more of a cooperative experience with multiple ideas and one end result.

The artist chosen will be recognized in the CD liner notes and credits, receive $50 and a copy of the final product.

Also, we will be displaying ALL entries and reveal the chosen piece at our Gallery night Feb. 26th, 2011.

Would you like to participate?

Here’s how it works…
